The Right to Keep and Bear Lasers

A German firm successfully tested a laser weapon system, cutting a 1/2″ steel beam from a distance of 1 km.  The unit also successfully shot down a few drones 2 km away, and an 82mm steel ball.

STAR WARS is here folks. I consider this rather impressive, and pretty darn close to “actualization”.  They are looking to build a 60kw, and a 100kw demonstrator over the next year or two (present system involved a 30kw and a 20kw laser).

But the truth is, while we may be debating the need for AR15’s in the public media sphere. I’ve argued that we have to be very careful to ensure that the 2nd Amendment remains a right to bear arms (swords, bows, knives, guns, and yes – even blasters)

Let’s show some love on Valentine’s Day for Starbuck’s Coffee

UPDATE: Apparently there is a move to encouraging paying with $2 bills (for 2nd Amendment – which as Jack Spirko points out, features the signing of the Declaration of Independence.)

A couple of years ago anti-gun groups put pressure on Starbucks to become “gun free zones”.  Starbucks stated that they would simply adhere to the given laws of the states their stores reside in.

In response, anti-gun groups proposed a boycott of Starbucks, which they are continuing in this year.  Gun owners responded with an anti-boycott, and encouraged each other to go purchase a beverage at Starbucks. (If not a coffee drinker, it’s been suggested by some bloggers to buy some coffee for the troops.)

Please consider participating & showing support for a company which did not cave to the extremism and fear mongering of the anti-gun groups.

Interesting Aspects of the Debt Ceiling War

I agree with the vast majority, that the whole debt ceiling battle is merely a horse and pony show. They will huff, and puff, and raise it just like they always do. However, some rather interesting aspects have shown forth.

The Senate cancels 4th of July recess amongst claims that they shouldn’t go home with such a crisis on their hands. When everyone knows a single week is going to make very little difference on the matter – this is merely a political play to call a bluff – concede or lose your holiday.

http://money.cnn.com/2011/06/30/news/economy/senate_recess/index.htm?cnn=yes

But I find this statement involving the potential use of a “trump” card by the Executive branch to be even more interesting. Furthermore, it potentially has far more reaching consequences. An invocation of the 14th Amendment.

“The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.”

“Even Geithner, at a Politico breakfast last month, whipped out a copy of the Constitution and read the 14th Amendment aloud. “This is the important thing -‘shall not be questioned,’ ” he said.”

http://money.cnn.com/2011/06/30/news/economy/debt_ceiling_constitution/index.htm?source=cnn_bin

The key question will be whether the debts are authorized by law or not.

The part I find =interesting is that they focus on the “shall not be questioned”. If they successfully argue their case and their interpretation of those words and their strength on such an issue. It will be much harder for justices to diminish the 2nd Amendment’s “shall not be infringed” clause.

Why I am not going to the 2nd Amendment March

Because the settlment closing on my house got pushed back from Wednesday, to Friday and now to Monday.

To all those going. Sorry I will miss you.

I know there is a lot of controversy over this march. Even within the gun community.  But  I believe such events can lay the foundation for greater events.

That said, be wise folks. Know that this is potentially the one of the rare protests that the Mainstream Media might cover.  If only to report a mere dozen of attendees. And try to spin it full of racism.  So I remind you to take the higher road.

Matthew 5:9 “But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”

If someone calls you a name, spits on you, what not. Remember to act a professional.   Be cautious not to make statements that could be twisted by the media.

Colleges those bastions of liberty and free speech… !NOT

Unless of course your topic of free speech is not on the socialist left’s agenda.

“Rise of the Gun Bloggers”

NSSF’s May 19th issue of Bullet Points Newsletter included the following:

“Bloggers outnumbered national reporters at the NRA’s 138th annual convention in Phoenix, according the Christian Science Monitor, whose story highlighted the growing influence of pro-gun bloggers: the often irreverent, always passionate “new media” scribes who provide an alternative viewpoint to mainstream media. Even Josh Sugarmann of the anti-gun Violence Policy Center had to hand it to the pro-gun bloggers, saying, “If you compare the pro-gun activity in the blogosphere versus the pro-gun-control activity, the scales have just tipped tremendously in their favor.” Many bloggers in Phoenix attended the 2nd Annual Second Amendment Blog Bash to compare notes and learn to how to further extend the reach of their messages. Read more in NSSF’s blog, Aiming for Accuracy.”

Rahm Emmanuel – scariest man in Washington?

Rahm Emmanuel expresses his plan to eliminate the 2nd Amendment for many Americans without due process. (Video from approx. 2 yrs ago.)

Simply appearing on the “No Fly List” (same list that has had Senators and numerous others names on it and provides no recourse).  Americans need to wake up!

Rahm, you are the biggest terrorist and threat to America I currently see…
