New Bar to Open up at Gun Range

Oh the horrors, the horrors…you’ll shoot your eye out. Guns and alcohol don’t mix, blah blah blah. (Which granted, I think if you’re drinking and shooting you’re asking for an accident.)

But after reading the article, it sounds like the range has a good system worked out.  You check in with your ID badge.  But you also buy drinks with the ID badge. And once you buy a drink, you’re no longer able to shoot on the range that day.

SHOOT & DRINK = Okay in my book, sounds like a great time!

DRINK & SHOOT = Risky behavior that could harm you or others…

The fact that the rang is essentially adding a lounge is to me of little concern. Nor is it actually very unusual. There are a number of clubs & venues I’ve seen that have had bar and grill restaurants.

So long as the policy is “Shoot first, drink later” I am not very concerned.  And it sounds like this range has the logistics worked out to ensure that policy is adhered to.

Follow-up on AZ restaurant carry

Back in May I blogged about attending the NRA Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ.  I had a blast, however I had a number of gripes related to Arizona’s restriction on carry in any location that served alcohol (which included most of the the restaurants downtwon).

A proposed law would have allowed Arizona residents and guests with recognized permits to carry in restaurants that served alcohol.  The news is that it has passed the house. Congratulations to Arizonans.

I do wonder what affect the attendance of thousands of NRA members had on Arizona. I know that I contacted numerous Arizona officials regarding my experiences on this matter. I imagine many others did as well.  For those wondering what the NRA accomplishes, I believe this is but one example of the affect of the NRA.

UPDATE: Passed the senate and is headed to the governor.
