Rhetoric of the Left (yes it exists too)

DISCLOSURE: To my readers, this post is more of a record. It is inspired by a video of Keith Olbermann in which he calls for everyone to tone it down but then goes on and on attacking.

I really, prefer to keep this blog non-partisan. However, I feel the barrage on the part of the media has been extreme over the recent events. I’ve found myself having to repeatedly point out that this sort of rhetoric is a problem on both sides.

Below I have a list of examples of rhetoric from the Left. This is not to incriminate the Left and blame them for the actions of nut-jobs. Nor to make it out that only the Left suffers from this sort of crud.

But as the mainstream media is doing such an excellent job of digging up and presenting all the examples of rhetoric from the right, I thought it’d be prudent to provide some balance.

“If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun” – Senator Obama

‎”A spoiled child (Bush) is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: *audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.* Just try it, you little b*stard. *audio… of gun being cocked*.” — A “humor bit” from the Randi Rhodes Show

“I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow….I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.” — Bill Maher

“I want to go up to the closest white person and say: ‘You can’t understand this, it’s a black thing’ and then slap him, just for my mental health” — New York city councilman Charles Barron

“..And then there’s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq ‘We have our good days and our bad days.’ We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say ‘This is one of our bad days’ and pull the trigger.” — From a fundraising ad put out by the St. Petersburg Democratic Club

“I believe in ecoterrorism.” — James Cameron

“F*** God D*mned Joe the God D*mned Motherf*cking plumber! I want Motherf*cking Joe the plumber dead.” — Liberal talk show host Charles Karel Bouley on the air.

Republicans, … should be exterminated before they cause any more harm.” — The Village Voice’s Michael Feingold, in a theater review of all places

“You guys see Live and Let Die, the great Bond film with Yaphet Kotto as the bad guy, Mr. Big? In the end they jam a big CO2 pellet in his face and he blew up. I have to tell you, Rush Limbaugh is looking more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet. But we’ll be there to watch. I think he’s Mr. Big, I think Yaphet Kotto. Are you watching, Rush?” — Chris Matthews

“If I got (Condi Rice) a— on camera, I would put my Mars Air Jordans so far up her butt that the Mayo Clinic would have to remove them.” — Spike Lee

“Drudge? Aw, Drudge, somebody ought to wrap a strong Republican entrail around his neck and hoist him up about six feet in the air and watch him bounce.” — Liberal radio host, Mike Malloy

Baldwin said, “if we were in another country… we would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families, for what they’re doing to this country.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alec_Baldwin

“For hypocrisy, for sheer gall, [Newt] Gingrich should be hanged.” – Richard Cohen

Craig Kilborn superimposing “Snipers Wanted” over a photo of President Bush on CBS TV.

Andrei Codrescu on his “All Things Considered” segment stated, “The evaporation of four million [people] who believe in this [Christian] crap would leave this world a better place.”

Brady Campaign use of a target in a political ad (h/t Sebastian)

Fred Phelps, commonly portrayed as a right-winger for his whacko extremist protesting of homosexuality at funerals actually ran on the Democrat ticket 5 times, including three times for governor and once for the senate.

Movie made about assassination of President George Bush

Heck, I wonder what the Left would think if someone made a fictious movie about the death of President Obama. Surely, that’d be hate speech. Such a film could incite violence or encourage one to try to assassinate the President. Oh wait, it’s your guys’ president – that’s fine.

Likewise, we could list numerous violent events perpetrated by the left. Shootings and bombings of recruitment centers, car dealerships. The whacko who flew his plane into the IRS building, Weather Underground, and more.

Casey Brezik, the Leftist who tried to assasinate a governor

(Also known as “proof” the mainstream media is a biased political shill for the left. If the attacker is clearly a leftist, we don’t raise much fuss. But if we can blame the right in any way, we will move mountains to portray such and blame the right.)

———————————————–

The truth is there are whackos, and they’re just that. Whackos. They’ll often gravitate to one side or the other, or even to a lyric of a song.

The problem is, that you would never know that based on the speech of the likes of Keith Olbermann and most of the media. You’d think this was just an issue on one side of the aisle.

(Really Keith, you couldn’t use a single example above. The only examples you could use find all involved conservatives?)

And that folks is the problem. And why this nation will continue to be further divided.

  2. Rhetoric. Both sides use it. It should no be stopped.

Now is not the time to whine about rhetoric, or to listen to calls to tone it down. The left is preparing a corps-level assault on the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

Now is the time to heat it up and drive our points home forcefully. Now is the time to either show the leftists we mean what we say, ie “You will not take any of our liberty”, or forever sit down and shut up.

If they assault our freedoms with “a knife”, we bring an AC-130 and HEDP artillery.

If they bring a gun, we bring a tank.

If they bring a tank, we bring a tac-nuke.

No toning down the rhetoric in the face of anti-liberty activists and extremists.

    No compromise.

We will not surrender our freedoms, in word or in deed.

    Will not.

    Resist.
